The longest road on Earth is an interactive experience that tells the not at all extraordinary lives of four people.
The general tone of the game is based on total neutrality and the lack of text, which leaves all its content to free interpretation. All this is guided by an original intimate human soundtrack.
Gameplay takes place through an interactive representation of local everyday life, customs and mannerisms in different settings and points of view. Thus, turning on the lights, serving in a bar, or looking at a bouquet of flowers are a crucial part of the journey. In fact, that's it, there's no challenge that tarnishes the experience.
We'll move through the environment and we'll be able to interact with some elements which will trigger some beautiful scenes that guide the story itself and the brilliant soundtrack will follow as well making a unique narrative experience.
We've chosen Pixel Art as our medium, with an iconic black and white style yet detailed backgrounds to enhance neutrality rather than a nostalgic tone, as well as promoting the player's interpretation of the game world and characters' feelings. All scenarios are built keeping an eye on details to cause different impressions in players.
When creating scenarios like the ones in The Longest Road on Earth, we dedicated time to the small details that, while they aren't very descriptive because of their small size, they can be very expressive and encourage players to interpret what they are seeing.
That's the case with many of the pictures of the game. When we wanted the detail to be descriptive, we included a close-up shot. We believe that's something players enjoy, in fact. They enjoy interpreting small pixelled details and find out what they truly look like when they see the close-up.
We have decided to split the game into 4 chapters but like everything in life, every part makes a whole. In which way they'll be related? you'll have to wait to discover it by yourself.
The game chapters will describe everyday life moments, memories and perceptions of different people throughout the world. As we said, we have not yet decided how unrelated people will be to each other, but in any case, the game world will consist of the snapshot of conventional people living normal lives in commonplace situations.
The first chapter has 6 original songs composed with themes and lyrics that seek the serenity and simplicity of what is known by all of us. Feelings, emotions, situations and perceptions that aren't extraordinary yet define us as human beings, our stories, and how we share our lives with each other.
